Our Programs



Program : Salem County Rehabilitation Center
For : Ages 14 and over, with physical or mental disability preventing employment. 
Description : Formal evaluation of vocational interests and abilities, vocational training, extended employment, job placement and follow-up services.

The program concentrates on bringing people with disabilities toward the highest level of self-sufficiency and economic independence possible. Consumers receive wages during training.
Program : Time-Limited Job Coaching
For : People with disabilities who are ready for work in the community. 
Description : Additional eligibility requirements: Consumers must need assisstance in obtaining and maintaining employment.

Th eprogram provides assistance in selecting and obtaining competitive employment. On-the-job support and follow-up services are provided.
Program : Mobile Crew
For : Consumers must be enrolled in the Salem County Rehabilitation Center. 
Description : The program provides training and paid work experiences in janitorial and landscaping services.
Program : Supported Employment Services
For : Consumers must have a diagnosis of significant and persistant mental illness. 
Supported Employment Services
Description : Additional eligability requirements: motivation for employment and certification by NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

The program provides pre-placement training, counseling, employment search and development, job placement and follow-up services.
Program : Group Homes
For : Ages 18 and over, client of the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities. 
Description : The program provides a normalized residential experience for adults with developmental disabilities who require training and supervision in order to achieve their innate potential.
Program : Adult Basic Education
For : Ages 18 and over, in need or remedial academics and coping skills. 
Description : The program provides free assistance in acquiring competencies in daily living skills through academics and experience. Both a formal classroom environment and hands-on experience are utilized.
Program : Adult Training Services
For : Ages 21 and over, and approved by the Division of Developmental Disabilities. 
Description : The program provides an environment designed to promote adult behaviors, work attitudes, and incentives to use personal time constructively. It is organized around normally recurring events of daily life and presents opportunities for training in perception, fine and gross coordination, communications, socialization and hygienic functioning.
Program : Respite Care
For : Families of children and adults with developmental disabilities. 
Description : Additional eligability requirements: Services must be approved by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Trained respite care workers care for people with developmental disabilites in their homes, providing relief time for the family caregivers.
Program : Cash Subsidy
For : Children and adults who reside at home and are approved by the Division of Developmental Disabilities. 
Description : The program provides financial support necessary to access services and/or equipment otherwise unavailable to families. Awards and amounts are determined by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Program : Personal Assistance Services
For : Adults who are permanently disabled. 
Description : Additional eligibility requirements: Adults must be capable or self-direction, and in need of physical assistance in daily living activities. Must be referred by the Salem County Office for the Disabled.

The program provides attendant care service that enables adults with physical disabilities to be employed, prepare for employment, and/or live independently.
Program : Self Advocacy
For : Any person with a disability who is interested in issues that affect people with disabilities. 
Description : The program is a consumer organized and operated support group with a staff liaison. Activities include community volunteerism, voter registration, social functions and issue oriented conferences.
Program : Leased Apartments/Homes Program
For : Must be homeless and recieving services from The Arc of Salem County. 
Description : The Arc of Salem County provides transitional housing for homeless families and individuals through the agency's membership in the Salem County Leased Apartments/Homes Program.
Program : Drop-In Saturday Program
For : Children and adults with developmental disabilities.  
Description : Additional eligibility requirements: Consumers must be approved for services by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Consumers are registered and dropped off for the Saturday afternoon program which provides lunch, socilization and activities for the consumers and a period of respite for families.
Program : Recreation Program
For : All consumers enrolled in day programs at The Arc of Salem County. 
Description : This program provides a variety of supervised recreational opportunities for consumers including dances, bowling, ball games, theatre, shopping, dining out, and field trips to museums, zoos, parks, special exhibits, etc.
Program : Challenge Grant
For : Division of Developmental Disabilities consumers who live independently. 
Description : Additional eligibility requirements: Consumers must be approved for the program by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.

The program provides a Home Support Technician to provide instruction and supervision in daily living and home maintenance skills so that the consumer is able to live independently.
Program : In-Home Support Program
For : Consumers with special needs who are approved for the program by the Division of Developmental Disabilities. 
Description : Families of consumers who are developmentally disabled with special needs receive support services that enable that family to continue to maintain the consumer in the home.
Program : Hotel Respite
For : Consumers must be approved for services by the Division of Developmental Disabilities. 
Description : The program provides a weekend respite for families and an opportunity for consumers to spend a weekend in an integrated setting with socialization and community activities.
